COACH BIO:
Nada Faris is a writer and literary translator. In 2018, she received an Arab Woman Award from Harper’s Bazaar Arabia for her impact on creatives in Kuwait. She is an Honorary Fellow in Writing at Iowa University’s International Writing Program (IWP) Fall 2013; and an alumna of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) April 2018: Empowering Youth Through the Performing Arts. Faris holds an MFA in Creative Writing (Poetry & Literary Translation) from Columbia University. She is, furthermore, the author of multiple books in different genres. Her shorter works have appeared in: The Norton Anthology for Hint Fiction, Gulf Coast Journal, Indianapolis Review, Nimrod, Tribes, One Jacar, The American Journal of Poetry, and more. |
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certified life coach with accreditation from an organization approved by the International Coaching Federation -- (Coach Training Alliance)
- Proven experience in coaching, mentoring, and business consultation for creatives (see the Testimonials page or my CV and Resume for reference)
- Excellent listening and communication skills with the ability to understand clients' needs and tailor solutions accordingly
- Ability to establish trust and a supportive environment for clients who hail from diverse backgrounds and who have specific needs
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, allowing for open-ended questions that help clients determine practical and effective solutions for themselves
- Good knowledge of personal growth and development methods and techniques (reads about 50-100 books a year, and constantly takes new courses)
- Ability to develop and manage client relationships
- Honoring confidentiality
- Uses technology to facilitate remote coaching sessions
- Has a deep and empathetic knowledge of the human experience (multiple degrees in the humanities, see CV and Resume)

2024
- Gave a workshop during Khaleejesque's Kilmitain program titled: "Overcome Your Negative Voice." See Kuwait Times' feature: Khaleejesque’s Kilmitain workshop fosters creativity, innovation, cultural exchange.
2023
- Gave a workshop during International Coaching Week (May) as part of the ICF Kuwait Chapter contributions titled Journaling for Creativity: Journaling tools to help people make creative decisions during challenging moments, connect with their authentic desires, strengthen their agency, and live a life of purpose and genuine fulfillment.
- Gave the opening speech at Roqoosh (July). The talk was titled, The Gift of Self Reflection and the event was hosted at Sadu House (Kuwait). I shared a personal story that explained why I turned to journaling and followed it with a simple journaling prompt to strengthen one's loving connections. You can watch the speech here.
- Was a guest on Radio Kuwait International English Station 93.3 FM and 963 AM (July), "The Guest Show with Chaitali B Roy," Episode: 132, where I revisit more than a decade in the cultural sphere in Kuwait, discuss Anglowaiti literature, and explain why I don't do slam poetry anymore even though I was known as "Kuwait's Finest" slam poet.
- Gave an interactive workshop (November): To Speak from the Heart: How to Recognize and Interrupt Life-Alienating Dialogues to students at Gust University for Science and Technology (Kuwait), to help them recognize and interrupt life-alienating dialogues.
- Visited the Arab Open University (December) and gave Coping Through Humor: On Writing Mischief Diary and Learning How to Forgive, an inspirational talk on the power of creative writing to heal memories with a special emphasis on humor as a tool for transformation.
