Who is creative coach and workshop facilitator: Nada Faris?

Nada Faris is a writer and literary translator from Kuwait. In 2018, she received an Arab Woman Award from Harper’s Bazaar Arabia for her impact on creatives in the country.

She is the author of the following books: 
  • Fountain of Youth (Vine Leaves Press, 2016), a semi-finalist in the 2016 Vine Leaves Vignette Collection Award
  • Mischief Diary (HBKU, 2018), a young adult short story collection
  • Women of Kuwait (Daylight, 2019) with Maha Alasaker, which became a finalist in the Lucie Photobook Award

In 2024, she published her first literary translation:
  • Lost in Mecca by Bothayna Al-Essa (DarArab 2024) a translation from the Arabic, which was shortlisted for The 2024 Saif Ghobash Banipal Prize for Arabic Literary Translation and named a Notable Translation by “World Literature Today.”

Furthermore, Nada is an Honorary Fellow in Writing at Iowa University’s International Writing Program (IWP) Fall 2013 and an alumna of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) April 2018: Empowering Youth Through the Performing Arts. 

Faris holds an MFA in Creative Writing (Poetry & Literary Translation) from Columbia University and her shorter works have appeared in: The Norton Anthology for Hint Fiction, Gulf Coast Journal, Indianapolis Review,​ Nimrod, Tribes, One Jacar, The American Journal of Poetry, and more.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • ​Certified life coach with accreditation from an organization approved by the International Coaching Federation -- (Coach Training Alliance)
  • Proven experience in coaching, mentoring, and business consultation for creatives (see the Testimonials page or my CV and Resume for reference)
  • Excellent listening and communication skills with the ability to understand clients' needs and tailor solutions accordingly
  • Ability to establish trust and a supportive environment for clients who hail from diverse backgrounds and who have specific needs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, allowing for open-ended questions that help clients determine practical and effective solutions for themselves
  • Good knowledge of personal growth and development methods and techniques (reads about 50-100 books a year, and constantly takes new courses)
  • Ability to develop and manage client relationships
  • Honoring confidentiality
  • Uses technology to facilitate remote coaching sessions
  • Has a deep and empathetic knowledge of the human experience (multiple degrees in the humanities, see CV and Resume)
